Here
at Puncture Body Piercing we are very serious about our Sterilization
and Hygiene. To start with we only use SINGLE USE NEEDLES, which are opened
from a sealed packet in front of you and disposed of in front of you into
a Sharps Bin. All the instruments that are used in a procedure go through
a 3 step cleaning procedure, before they are used again:
- Step 1. All the
instruments are rinsed and scrubbed under running water and then are
placed into the Ultrasonic (this will dislodge any microscopic debris)
containing Epizyme (microbial instrument disinfectant) for minimum of
20 minutes and then rinsed down with running water and dried.
- Step 2. After this
the instruments then go into our Statim2000 Cassette Autoclave (steam
pressurised cassette sterilizing unit) to be sterilized, once the cycle
has been completed, we then place the instruments into clean sealed
draws until we need to use them for a piercing.
- Step 3.The sterilized
instruments are then taken from the draws & placed back into the Statim
Cassette with the jewellery and any other products we need to complete
the piercing. Once the cycle has been completed, the Statim Cassette
is then taken into the Piercing Room and opened in front of you, then
laid out on the trolley ready to go.
Both
of the Statim Cassettes are Spored Tested on a weekly basis by QML (Queensland
Medical Laboratory) this test is done so we know that our equipment is
running correctly and that sterilization is successful. QML then supplies
our studio with a report on the Spore Tests; we have these reports on
show in the studio for your peace of mind.
It is important that
wherever you choose to get pierced, the piercing is done safely and hygienically.
Ask your piercer what precautions they have taken to insure a clean procedure.
Remember you are the one getting pierced, so if you feel that your safety
could be compromised, just leave and find another studio.
